John J. McDonough, M.D.

Dr. McDonough is one of the three founding members of Hand Surgery Specialists. He is Board Certified in General/Vascular surgery and Certified by the American Board of Surgery in hand surgery. With his extensive training and experience, he is expert in microsurgical techniques of replantation and free tissue transfer as well as common hand problems.
Dr. McDonough’s service in the United States Navy fostered a love of sailing and naval history. His nautical interest, couples with a pair of skilled hands, has led to his pastime of building beautiful wooden model ships. Dr. McDonough is also an accomplished writer, having won two prestigious national writing awards.
An active member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and author of many scientific papers and book chapters, Dr. McDonough also serves as Adjunct Associate Professor of Clinical Surgery and Volunteer Associate Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Cincinnati.
