1. What kind of dressing will I have and how do I care for it?

The type and size of your dressing will depend on the procedure performed and the surgeon's preference. You will receive a specific set of instructions, which the recovery room nurse will review with you prior to your discharge.

2. Is there somewhere for my family to eat while they wait?

There are a number of restaurants in the surrounding area, including McDonalds, White Castle, Rally's, KFC, Vernon Manor Hotel Restaurant and Gold Star Chili to name a few. We ask that you do not bring food back to the Center. Many hand surgery procedures do not require a long stay in the Hand Surgery Center, so tell your family not to be gone for long.

3. Will I receive pain medicine?

You will be given a prescription for medication for post-operative pain. The recovery room nurse will review instructions regarding your pain medication prior to your discharge. If you need a refill on your pain medicine you must call the physician's office (513-961-4263) during normal business hours Monday through Friday. Refills for pain medicine will not be given on weekends.
